What did you learn with this action?: | I learned that though this man died a long time ago, the things he fought for are still very important to me and my country. I am grateful for his service and his sacrifice. |
What inspired you about this individual to do something in your life to make a difference?: | I was particularly struck by how young Ricken was. He was only 30 - just 10 years older than me. It seems odd to me that he died so young, and that men just like him are dying even as I write this in Iraq and Afghanistan.I am inspired to reach out and help organizations that support and give back to troops and veterans, and to use my field of study - neuroscience - to help the young men that return. |
