What did you learn with this action?:I learned that Sergeant Harmon was an extremely courageous and brave soldier. He was killed protecting his soldiers from German attackers during World War II. Sgt. Harmon was able to crawl hundreds of yards forward while under enemy fire to launch grenades to stop the Germans from advancing toward his platoon. He later received a Medal of Honor for his courageous actions just before his death.
What inspired you about this individual to do something in your life to make a difference?:I am very inspired by the way Sgt. Harmon sacrificed himself to save the lives of the men in his platoon. Had Sgt. Harmon not given his life and taken out the oncoming attackers, it is likely that he and the men in his platoon would have been killed. This inspired me because hearing about bravery like this shows me how selfless other people can be. It also shows the commitment and courageousness that those in the army possess. This makes me want to do something that makes a difference because I saw what a huge difference one person was able to make and that makes me want to make a difference as well.
