What did you learn with this action?:1st Lt. Harold A. Bond Jr. went MIA on February 14, 1944 while serving on a plane over Verona, Italy. After taking flak from German gunners, witnesses report that the pilot of Bond's plane parachuted out, but that Bond did not. The plane then went down outside Verona, and the body was never recovered.
What inspired you about this individual to do something in your life to make a difference?:It is inspiring to see young Americans going to fight such genocidal regimes such as the Nazis. Because of his sacrifice, I now want to raise awareness of prejudice and racism in my school and in my community so that such things will not happen again, and Bond's sacrifice will not have been in vain.
